circumcision

Answerer 1

You will not be able to have sex for a bit while it heals up (they will advise how long) but after that there should not be any problems

One thing it does is reduce the chances of picking up HIV and certain other STDs if you have sex without a condom

I would quite like to have it done myself and you are lucky to be able to have it done without paying

I am not by any means an advocate for circumcision, especially if it is forced upon unsuspecting babies.
However, if you need it to overcome issues that you have not been able to resolve by other means... go ahead with it.
There will be a period of adjustment, getting used to it, but once you're through with that you'll be fine and perfectly able to perform sexually.
People on both sides of the cric issue sometimes tend to exaggerate or even just flat out lie about some of the pros and cons of circumcision.

you'll be glad you are circumcised.
    it's cleaner, hygienic and smell-free.

Having a circumcision will affect masturbation. You will need to use lube.

Adult circumcision is a surgical operation to injure the penis and reduce its size by cutting off the nerve-laden sexually sensitive foreskin. Adult circumcision is usually performed with a general anesthetic however local anesthetic may be used. Like all surgical operations, it has risks of hemorrhage, infection, and surgical mishap. Loss of the penis has been known to occur. Death has been known to occur.

The foreskin is a complex double-layered structure composed of smooth muscle fiber, skin, mucosa, nerves, arteries, and veins. It is natural, normal, healthy, and its possession contributes to a sense of well-being. The foreskin has protective, sensory, sexual, and immunological functions. It is loaded with nerves and is the site of most of the penile sensation. The foreskin is a “specific erogenous zone.” The foreskin is essential for normal intercourse. Foreskin provides the additional skin needed to allow for penile expansion during erection. Amputation of the foreskin, which is an integral and important part of the penis has very significant adverse sexual and emotional effects.
Circumcision is an injurious, damaging, destructive, and harmful surgical operation that cuts through nerves and blood vessels that feed blood to the penis. The operation is irreversible. You will have the rest of your life to mourn your loss of your erogenous foreskin.
The foreskin is filled with nerves that make it the most sensitive part of the human body, therefore, cutting into it is very painful.
It takes about six weeks to recover from an adult circumcision. But you will never fully regain the lost protection, sexual function, sensation, and sexual pleasure, even if you restore your foreskin.

If you should become interested in restoring your foreskin, a search on the Internet for “foreskin restoration” will produce lots of information.

Clearly your impending circumcision has been advised medially. There will inevitably be some post operative discomfort, but once things have healed everything should be fine. Over 20% of all UK males are currently circumcised, so you are not going to look unusual.

Only a guy that has had that done can give you a real answer. You are having it done with a laser right? I hear it heals up really fast if you use a laser.
  • Answerer 7
    dont be.
the fanatics on here are just that: fanatics.
if you are having chronic pain with a tooth and a root canal or w/e wont save it, they pull it, right? By their logic that's a mutiation too. (and dont tell me it isnt the same thing, fanatics. Just because you are asigning more worth do your foreskin than your teeth - and think about that for a minute- doesnt make it so)

you will be fine. It will take a while to get used to, but you'll be so much happier without the problems.

    good luck!

I would counsel anyone who is expressing the level of fear and doubt you are about a procedure to correct a non-life threatening condition, to delay the procedure until your doubts are satisfied. Besides a circumcision, this would apply to laser eye surgery, knee replacement, tattoos, hair transplants, whatever...Fear often stems from not being fully informed, and if you're not fully informed at this point then someone in the chain of treatment has failed in their task. That could be your doctor or it could be you...but in either case, fix that before going any further.

As to the circumcision itself, I can only speak for myself based on my own experiences. I was circumcised as an adult for medical reasons, so I've experienced sex, masturbation, urination and etc. on both sides of this situation. Putting aside the temporary discomfort of the procedure, I will say life changed for me in two ways:

    1) Personal hygiene IS easier.

    2) The women I'm with (from North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Denmark) ALL like it better.

And that's about it. NONE of the horror stories repeated here (by responders like Mithras) happened to me. The sexual sensations were the same...I didn't lose any sensitivity. My penis wasn't smaller, the glans didn't "dry out," I can still masturbate without lubrication, my uncircumcised penis does not seem to be hurting women, my partners don't consider me to be "mutilated," and so on and so forth.

Overall my summary to questions like these are if you're circumcised...fine. If you're not circumcised...fine.

And if for some reason you are looking at getting circumcised for whatever reason...do consider the balanced views on the topic. And I think you'll find that most of the views represented by the anti-circumcision "Intactivist" crowd all seem to be a bit on the frantic and hysterical side, ready with too many quick answers (again, like Mithras who has based on a simple question, decided for himself, for your doctor and for YOU, that you DON'T need this procedure) and a lot of stories about negative consequences that are unsubstantiated except by a few panicky websites. All that hysteria tends to undermine their arguments, in my opinion.

But ultimately the decision is yours, and results are likely to vary from person to person. Gather information, explore options and use the rational part of your brain to make the decision.

    Good luck.

Be happy to get circumcised! It is cleaner, healthier, better looking and most say it improves sex! As for masturbation you just need a little lube....being circumcised you can get real creative with hand movements! Even European girls will love that you are cut...they will be more prone to give you some oral action! So, no worries! You will be happy with the results!

Don't listen to Mithras....he is a total homosexual foreskin freak!
  • Answerer 10
why? just massage under and over for-skin two and three time a day until the foreskin rolls back on its on its own when you get hard
  • Answerer 11
    It IS pretty bad, mate.
If you are sure your doctor isn't just suggesting it for personal profit of because of his religion, it may be the best course. But weigh all the disadvantages first. It is healthier to keep the foreskin. The USA, where most men are circumcised, has the highest incidence of STD including HIV, if you still believe in that hoax.
The callusing that will result, and the loss of some % of the nerve endings in your penis will soon mean that sensitivity is lost. Later keratinization makes the use of Viagra etc. necessary.
Sometimes it is botched and parts of the glans can be badly mangled. If the mangling is bad and the victim still young, they cut everything off and hope they can make a girl out of him. This doesn't work, as the typical case of David Reimer shows.
Recently a boy in Holland had his caack burned off because the doc was inexperienced with the laser.so insist on a conservative operation.

I can't really say much about it other than the "girls" part. It's probably just because we know what we know, but being North Americans I can say that me and every single one of my girl friends with whom I've ever fallen into a discussion about this, all agree 100% that we prefer the guy to be circumcised. We like the aesthetics of it, we recognize that it is a little safer for us AND no matter what they uncircumcised guys like to say, none of us seems to have ever been with a guy who was as clean as he claimed to me. And then there are guys like Mithras who apparently don't even bother to try to be clean...ugh, few girls would want to suck on THAT...
